The goth/metal culture in Sacramento has influenced me greatly since I started attending shows a few years ago. Over time I became friends with the event coordinator of a lot of the shows that I attend and he told me I could design gig posters for him any time I wanted. This poster is for a goth band and in a style that I have recently been getting into. I used this poster to practice Photoshop and use blending modes to create a dark and colorful image. The original is an oil painting done by a close friend of mine and the texture is from a picture of a labradorite stone, which is my favorite. It was a lot of fun to see what the little changes on the computer made to create the moody image. It turned out exactly how I wanted it to. With the exception of the headliner, I used the eyes as the focus of the type. The type weights and colors are reflective of the artwork as well. This show has not actually happened yet and I am excited to see what the band members think.
