Twice a year, the Olympic Weightlifting gym I have been apart of for the past four years hosts a competition at the gym called the Back Alley Rumble. My coach is an illustrator and we have been teaming up to create the T-shirts that would be sold at the competitions. Each design is unique and develops from what the theme of the meet is at the time. Last October, I was given the task of creating a typeface based off another and designing the shirt. I took it further and designed an entire campaign of posters and advertisements. After creating the simple T-shirt design which consisted of ‘Occam Athletics’ in the requested typeface and a cleaned up vector of the drawing on a green shirt, I worked in Adobe Illustrator to paint the drawing. I used a bitmap and shades of green and grey to create a comic book style poster. I took pieces of the vector drawing and the typeface to create a few different Instagram and Facebook ads.
